The Locust Grove council, Henry County commissioners and zoning advisory board have meetings this week. Here’s your look at meetings during the week of May 5, 2025.
Meetings the Week of May 5, 2025
Locust Grove Council
The Locust Grove council meets on Monday, May 5, at 6 pm. The council meets at the city’s public safety building on Highway 42. This will be the council’s regular session when they vote on action items.
The city’s agenda includes votes on the following items:
- code amendment to adjust city park hours to close at 10 pm instead of midnight,
- conditional use permit for The Marked Society tattoo studio who relocated within the city for more space,
- special event permits for various city events through the end of the year.
The council will also have a presentation by the Henry County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) on FY 2024 activities and 2025 plans. The county CVB handles tourism promotions for unincorporated Henry County as well as the cities of Hampton, Locust Grove and Stockbridge. McDonough is separate.
Henry County Board of Commissioners
Next, the Henry County BOC will meet on Tuesday morning, May 6, at 9 am. The board meets at the county admin building in McDonough.
The board agenda has the below items:
- [Public Hearing] the first of two hearings on the FY 2026 county budget. The second budget hearing and the board’s consideration to adopt the budget will be on Wednesday, May 28, at 6:30 pm.
- [Public Hearing] consider rezoning 0.5 +/- acres for a commercial office at 8 Old South Ola Road near Highway 81.
- consider approving the county’s local bus route implementation and local bus route placemaking plan.
- approve engineering / design contracts for various road widening projects: Oak Grove Road, Jonesboro Road west (phase II), East Atlanta Road and Jodeco Road.
- award a resurfacing contract for Eagles Landing Parkway, Flippen Road, Kelleytown Road and Keys Ferry Road.

Henry County Zoning Advisory Board
Lastly, the Henry County zoning board has its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 8, at 6:30 pm. The county zoning board meets at the admin building in McDonough.
The zoning advisory board will consider three rezoning requests. Those requests propose build-to-rent communities on Foster Drive and Highway 155, and a commercial office on Airline Road.
