6 Teams Advance to the Basketball Playoffs 2025 Second Round

The Georgia High School Sports Association (GHSA) state basketball playoffs 2025 second round is this weekend, February 21-22. Henry County has 6 teams who advanced from round one.

State Basketball Playoffs 2025 Second Round

Boys Teams

The Dutchtown boys team, Region 5A-3 seed 2, defeated Decatur to advance to the second round. They will travel to face Sequoyah (Canton), Region 5A-6 seed 1.

Two Henry County boys teams from Region 4A-2 won their first-round match. McDonough, Region 4A-2 seed 1, will now host SW DeKalb, Region 4A-5 seed 2. Meanwhile, Union Grove, Region 4A-2 seed 3, will host St. Pius X (Atlanta), Region 4A-5 seed 4. Eagles Landing and Hampton were eliminated.

Lastly, Luella boys are the 19th seed in AAA. They defeated Adairsville, seed 14, in the first round. They now travel to play Cedar Grove, seed 3, in Ellenwood. AAA uses a ranking system instead of region standings for the playoffs.

Boys playoff games for the second round are on Saturday, February 22.

Girls Teams

The Dutchtown girls team, Region 5A-3 seed 4, dropped their first round match against Woodward Academy, Region 5A-4 seed 1.

In AAAA, one Henry County girls’ team advanced to the second round. Stockbridge, Region 4A-2 seed 2, will now travel to face Marist (Atlanta), Region 4A-5 seed 1. Union Grove and Woodland were eliminated.

The Luella girls team is the 6th seed in AAA. They defeated Westover (Albany), seed 27, during the first round. Their second-round opponent is Sandy Creek (Tyrone), seed 11.

Girls playoff games for the second round are on Friday, February 21.
