Henry County Schools has approved the school calendars for 2025-2028. The approval covers three years: 2025-2026, 2026-2027 and 2027-2028.
Henry County Schools Calendars 2025-2028
The school board first shared the draft calendars in January. They approved the calendars with no changes from what was shared last month. Changes to the 2025-2026 calendar are limited to adding two asynchronous, or virtual, learning days for students. Those days are as follows: Friday, October 10, 2025 and Friday, March 13, 2026. These days replace previously-scheduled early-release days.
The virtual days will provide the district an opportunity for a half-day of district professional development, and a half-day for teacher planning time. “I appreciate the dedicated teacher work days shown on the calendar,” remarked Board Chair Sophe Pope.
For 2025-2026, the first day of school is on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The last day is Friday, May 22, 2026.

Beginning in fall 2026, the first day of school will move to a Monday. The first day of school will be Monday, August 3, 2026 and Monday, August 2, 2027.
The last day of school will be on Wednesday during the last week of May. The last days are Wednesday, May 26, 2027, and Wednesday, May 24, 2028. Both calendars provide 179 days of student learning.
The calendars also add two additional early planning days for teachers. This would allow teachers, in addition to students, to be out for summer before Memorial Day.
Fall Break Moves to October
Beginning in 2026, the district’s fall break will return to the first full week of October. The district made this decision based on previous feedback received. The change will also time the break to follow the end of the first nine weeks of school. The dates are October 5-9, 2026 and October 4-8, 2027.
