
Henry County, McDonough and Locust Grove are each scheduled to meet on Tuesday night, January 21. Because of the MLK Holiday, McDonough and Locust Grove are meeting Tuesday instead of their usual Monday. Here’s a look at meetings happening in Henry County the week of January 20, 2025.
Of special note, the incoming winter weather will likely result in meetings being cancelled or rescheduled. The Henry Reporter will update this article as that information becomes available.
Winter Weather Updates:
- Henry County Schools are closed on Tuesday, January 21.
- The Henry County commissioners will meet virtually. Public hearing items have been postponed. County offices are closed on Tuesday.
- The McDonough council meeting is cancelled. City offices are closed on Tuesday.
- The Locust Grove council meeting is rescheduled to Monday, January 27. City offices are closed on Tuesday.
- Stockbridge city offices are closed on Tuesday.
Meetings The Week of January 20, 2025
Henry County Board of Commissioners
The county commissioners are scheduled to meet Tuesday, January 21, at 6:30 pm. The board meets at the county admin building in McDonough.
Agenda items include the following:
- [public hearing] consider rezoning 239 acres from RA to R-1 for a proposed subdivision off Keys Ferry Road,
- [public hearing] consider rezoning two acres from RA to C-1 for a new gas station and convenience store at State Route 155 and Millers Mill Road,
- [public hearing] consider modifying a master development plan for 13 acres to permit a condominium development off Westridge Parkway,
- approve purchasing shade structures for the under-construction aquatic center, and
- award a professional contract for the Henry County Comprehensive Strategic Plan.

Locust Grove
Next, the Locust Grove council meets Tuesday, January 21, at 6 pm. The council meets at the city’s public safety building on Highway 42.
Agenda items include a public hearing on gravel truck parking lots and a presentation on utility rates. The city’s meeting packet is on their website.
McDonough Council
Finally, the McDonough council likewise meets Tuesday at 6 pm. Their meetings are at McDonough city hall on Keys Ferry Street.
The council’s agenda includes an update on Avalon Park, consideration to approve the McDonough Square landscaping contract and council’s authorization to proceed forward with bidding-out a city parks master plan. Their agenda is online here.
