Henry County approved plans on Tuesday, January 7, for ten county parks to receive Wi-Fi. The work is being paid for by ARPA funds.
Henry County Parks Wi-Fi
The county commissioners approved the equipment purchase for parks Wi-Fi at the January 7 board meeting. The item was part of the meeting’s consent agenda. It passed without discussion. Wi-Fi is not presently available in county parks.
The equipment will be supplied by SmartWAVE Technologies LLC of Alpharetta, GA. They will also handle the installation. The company has experience on similar projects with numerous cities, including McDonough.
The project will install Wi-Fi at the following parks:
- J. P. Moseley Park
- Mickie D. Cochran Park
- Hidden Valley Park
- Village Park
- Cochran Park
- Nash Farm Park
- North Mt. Carmel Park
- Heritage Park
- Red Hawk Park
- Sandy Ridge Park
The equipment and installation costs equal $487,928.00. American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars will pay for it. A timeframe for the project’s completion was not immediately available.
The recommendation to install public Wi-Fi occurs following the county’s parks master plan. Henry County adopted the plan in August 2024.
