About the Plan
In January 2023, Henry County hired Perez Planning + Design, LLC of Atlanta, GA to design the master parks plan. The firm has extensive experience, to include the Gwinnett County parks plan. The master plan aims to complete the following:
- Through public input, identify unmet current and future needs in the parks system.
- Prioritize park improvements, development and potential future park acquisitions.
- Evaluate staffing and funding needs along with strategies.
- Prepare final document organized such that it can be presented and adopted by the Henry County Board of Commissioners.
The plan will also consider the financial impact. Possible funding sources to pay for new parks or park upgrades include SPLOST sales tax dollars and development impact fees. The county’s annual budget covers general maintenance and operations.
