The Locust Grove city council next meets on Monday, April 3. The council will vote whether to rezone property for a new gas station. Later in April, the city will consider a public hearing for a new grocery store.

Council meetings take place at the city public safety meeting. They begin at 6 pm.

Gas Station Vote

The proposed gas station is at the corner of state route 42 and Jackson Street. The applicant, 4787 Highway 42, LLC of McDonough, GA, is petitioning the city to rezone property from RA (residential agricultural) to C-2 (general commercial). It consists of 3.37 acres.

The city held a public hearing about the request at their March 20 meeting. One neighbor, who resides to the immediate north, spoke in opposition to the request. Planning staff have recommended the city approve the request based on the city future land use map. An update to that map is underway this year.

The council will vote on Monday whether to approve the rezoning request.

New Grocery Store

Later in April, the city will hold a public hearing for another commercial rezoning request. The meeting will be on Monday, April 17.

The proposed grocery store is at the southwest corner of state route 42 and Tanger Blvd. The subject property consists of about thirty acres. Additional details, such as the grocery store tenant, are not yet available. Stay tuned for more info.
