Henry County commissioners approved contracts for two local SPLOST projects during their October 18 meeting. The projects are located on Peeksville Road and North Ola Road in districts I and III respectively.
The Peeksville Road project consists of dirt road paving between Old Jackson Road and the reservoir. It will tie into the previously-completed section past the reservoir. Furthermore, the North Ola Road project will add sidewalks in front of Ola Elementary and North Ola Park.
Peeksville Road dirt road paving
Design work to pave Peeksville Road began in SPLOST IV. Voters approved the previous SPLOST program in November 2013. Voters then approved SPLOST V in 2019 providing for construction funds. With right of way acquisition complete, the project can now proceed forward to construction.
The board of commissioners approved a construction contract valued at $3,652,625.64 to McCoy Grading, Inc. of Greenville, GA. McCoy Grading submitted the lowest bid of seven vendors.
To support the project costs, the board also approved a budget amendment valued at $635,000. SPLOST V funds will cover the budget amendment.
McCoy Grading will have 330 days to complete the project.
