New retail space is presently under construction on Marketplace Blvd in Locust Grove. In addition, a new Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel is coming soon on the commercial corridor.
Walmart first constructed Marketplace Blvd when opening its store in 2010. Since then, Marketplace Blvd has slowly developed with new shops and food options in Locust Grove. To improve traffic flow, a new traffic light at state route 42 is in the process of installation.
Home2 Suites Locust Grove
The new Home2 Suites Locust Grove will build behind the existing Fairfield Inn. The new hotel will be a four-story building offering 100 guest rooms. There will also be an outdoor pool.
Golden Eye Hospitality of Stockbridge, GA is the hotel owner. The company completed a renovation at Comfort Suites McDonough in 2020.
Home2 Suites has one existing Henry County location off Jonesboro Road in McDonough. The next closest spots for the brand are Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and Macon.
There is no change in zoning necessary because the property has an existing commercial zoning. The city council will consider approving architectural renderings for the project during the October 3 council meeting.
Dental Office and Retail Space
Also on Marketplace Blvd, a dental office and retail space is under construction now. The building is located between Steak ’n Shake and Moe’s.
When complete, the 8,374 square foot building will offer space for three tenants. A dental office will be the primary tenant at the building. Estimated completion is February 2023.
