Purple Mattress is expanding in McDonough less than one year following their introduction to the county. On Wednesday, July 7, the state announced Purple Innovation, Inc. will create an additional 500 jobs in Henry County. When their expansion is complete, the company will employ over 800 individuals.
In July 2020, the company announced McDonough would be home to their first manufacturing facility outside their home state of Utah. The original job announcement included 360 positions. They started operations earlier this year. The first finished products rolled off the production line during the first quarter of 2021.
In an interview with Atlanta Business Chronicle, Purple shared the McDonough plant is producing at least one model across each of the mattress, pillow and seat cushion lines they offer. They plan to ramp up production in the future to include every product sold.
Purple Innovation is located at Lambert Farms off state route 42 and King Mill Road. Southern Gateway at Lambert Farms was developed by developer PNK Group. Purple now leases a total of 844,480 square feet — the largest tenant to date. About 250,000 sq ft of space is leased to Incora, an aerospace supply chain company.
PNK Group has plans for three more buildings. The largest, Building A, will measure 1.6 million square feet. Plans include two other smaller buildings.
Purple Mattress Expansion
Purple Mattress will expand to add a new call center. They expect the call center to open in spring 2022. The expansion also includes more production space. When complete, the McDonough location will be the company’s largest manufacturing operation.
New positions created will include customer care representatives, training and content specialists, and quality assurance analysts. Individuals interested in career opportunities with Purple can visit purple.com/careers for additional information.
