McDonough approves bid to resurface Racetrack Road

The city of McDonough has awarded a bid to resurface roadways within the city including a portion of Racetrack Road. The action was approved on Monday, June 15.

The low bid was awarded to Piedmont Paving, Inc. of Newnan, GA in the amount of $568,840.04.

Funds for the project are sourced from the local maintenance improvement grant (LMIG) for 2020 and SPLOST IV. LMIG funding totals $270,712.10 and SPLOST is contributing $298,127.94.

Roads to be resurfaced include a portion of Racetrack Road—from Old Griffin Street to approximately Salvation Army—Travis Drive, Premiere Way, Regency Park Drive, and Ben Horton Drive. The work totals 2.4 miles of roadway.

Construction on Racetrack Road is restricted to overnight hours. The remaining section of roadway excluded from the scope of work is maintained by Henry County.
