New data from the US Census Bureau estimates Henry County has experienced a slower growth rate this decade compared to the previous twenty years. Henry County has seen a population growth of 30,639 from April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2019.

In comparison, Henry County witnessed historic growth in the 2000’s adding 84,581 residents. Henry was the tenth-fastest growing county in the country during this time period. A decade earlier, from 1990 to 2000, the county saw an increase of 60,600.

Henry County is the 15th fastest growing county in Georgia this decade with a 15.11% growth rate. Forsyth County has led the state with a growth rate of 39.19%. Other counties increasing faster than Henry include Cherokee (20.71%), Coweta (16.60%), and Gwinnett (16.26%).

This Wednesday, April 1, is Census Day 2020. The official census is mandated by the US Constitution to be completed every ten years and the results affect Congressional representation, the drawing of legislative districts, and the distribution of federal funding. All households should have received a notice in the mail that included information on how to complete the census online; residents do not have to wait until April 1 to participate and may do so now.
