The city of Stockbridge has awarded a $15.8 million dollar bid to construct the city’s new 4,185 person amphitheater. The project, first envisioned in the city’s 2012 LCI study, will be located behind city hall on North Henry Blvd.

The bid includes $14,665,368 for the construction of the new venue, plus $1,172,412 for a new internal road. The project’s groundbreaking is expected later this month.

The amphitheater includes the following site elements: 50 new parking spaces, entry plaza, pre-function plaza, VIP structured-covered viewing boxes, terraced lawn seating, permanent sound booth covered-structure, outdoor stadium seating, elevated walkway, egress stairs & ramps, and sidewalks. In addition, the project has five (5) buildings. These buildings are: a two-story 4,685 sf stage pavilion with enclosed green room, a one-story 1,923 sf Will Call Building, a one-story 1,962 sf Main Restroom Building, and two (2) one-story 1,933 sf Concessions Buildings.

The contract was awarded to H.J. Russell and Company of Atlanta, GA. The city utilized a two-part competitive Request for Qualifications followed by a Request for Proposals from pre-qualified vendors to bid the project.

Project Location and Parking

The amphitheater will be constructed on approximately 9.6 acres owned by the city. The venue will have entrances located off East Atlanta Road, North Henry Blvd / SR 138, and North Lee Street.

The contract to build the amphitheater includes the construction of fifty (50) new parking spaces in addition to the existing parking lot at city hall. The city also purchased 7.5 acres adjacent to the site off East Atlanta Road in fall 2018 for future parking.

It is uncertain when parking will be constructed on the additional land. Modifications to the property are not shown in the conceptual renderings included as part of Stockbridge’s RFQ package.
