New Bank and Medical Office Building Pitched in Locust Grove

The Locust Grove city council approved this week an applicant’s request for a conditional use permit to build a new bank and single-story medical office building at the intersection of Georgia 42 and Marketplace Blvd. The conditional use permit was required to allow for the bank to include a drive-thru in the O-I (office institutional) zoning district.

The 2.83 +/- acre property is located at the southwest corner of the intersection. The applicant, Atlanta South Commercial Properties, intends to construct a 2,000-3,000 square foot bank building and approximately 15,000 sq ft single-story medical office building on the property.

The new medical building will join several others either available for leasing now or on the horizon in Locust Grove. Healthcare services are a major industry for employment both within the city and Henry County as a whole.

Related to the subject property’s location, the question may arise if there are plans to improve the intersection at Georgia 42 and Marketplace Blvd. The city has been collaborating with the Georgia Department of Transportation to install a new traffic signal at the location.
