

The 2019 population estimates are in from the Atlanta Regional Commission, and Henry County continues to be one of the fastest growing counties in metro Atlanta. The most recent estimate shows Henry County at 240,900 residents, a 2.6% increase (6,100).
The addition of 6,100 residents is Henry County’s largest yearly increase this decade. The county’s population has roughly doubled since the 2000 census.
Approximately 1,950 new single-family building permits were issued in Henry County in the year 2018. Zero permits were issued for multifamily development.
The Big Picture
Metro Atlanta added 72,500 people in the past year, pushing the region’s 10-county population to more than 4.6 million. Each of the ten metro counties saw population growth.
Fulton and Gwinnett Counties added the most residents. Cherokee and Henry Counties saw the largest percentage increase, continuing a trend seen in previous years.
ARC estimates that, by year 2040, metro Atlanta will be home to more than eight million residents. Henry County is estimated to have 351,000 residents by that time.
