The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Harris Corporation to provide increased coverage for public safety radios through the implementation of LTE coverage. The new module will allow public safety personnel to utilize the Verizon cellular network for communications when outside of the existing radio coverage.

Public safety personnel travel outside of Henry County on a frequent basis to provide mutual aid with other jurisdictions and transport medical patients to other area hospitals.

The installation costs totaling $924,595.00 are paid for with SPLOST IV funds. Remaining dollars in the public safety radio system upgrade are being utilized to fund the project.
