The Henry County Commissioners have approved a contract to hire Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. of Atlanta, GA to design an intersection improvement project at Mill Road and Mt Carmel Road in commission district II. The project is an approved SPLOST IV improvement.

The county received proposals from twelve companies for the design work. After staff evaluated the proposals, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. was scored as the highest most responsive bidder. The work will cost $180,000 leaving $1,030,000 in the project budget for future right of way acquisition and construction costs.

The intersection improvement is long awaited and is one of the last SPLOST IV projects to move forward. A roundabout is the most likely improvement in lieu of a traffic signal, but an official determination will be made during the design process.
