Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today is May 5 which is not Mexico’s Independence Day. Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
May is also budget month for the county commissioners and school board. The board of commissioners will hold their first of two budget public hearings on Tuesday. The second hearing and budget adoption is at the end of this month. Meanwhile, the school board will consider final adoption of its budget next week.
The zoning board will meet on Thursday to consider two proposed build-to-rent communities. Those projects are on Foster Drive and Highway 155, respectively.
