Virtual Dementia Tour presented by Southern Grace Hospice at The Canopy at Westridge

The Canopy at Westridge will be hosting Virtual Dementia Tours presented by Southern Grace Hospice.
The Virtual Dementia Tour is a simulation that shows what it’s like to have dementia. This incredibly realistic virtual experience puts people up to the challenge to perform daily tasks as if they were living with moderate Alzheimer’s.
Every participant comes out of the tour with a “WOW” or “That’s so crazy” result. Some have cried. They get a small glimpse of how a dementia patient deals with the disease daily. It’s definitely an unforgettable experience and enlightens you to be more aware and empathetic.
Virtual Dementia Tour touches on five simple tasks that the participant is asked to do while their physical and sensory abilities are temporarily “impaired.” As we observe the participant you can see their frustration and their defeat as they cannot remember half of what was asked of them to find. That’s what it’s like to live with dementia.
