Georgia DOT submits an annual report on major projects to the state legislature each January. The report includes all active state DOT projects with estimated total costs greater than $10 million dollars.
As of the January 2022 report, the state has nine projects either in design or right of way acquisition within Henry County. The pre-construction projects represent a planned investment greater than $500 million dollars over the next couple of years.
In addition, several state DOT projects are under construction in the county. They include the diverging diamond interchange in McDonough and a roundabout at SR 155 and Panola Road. Finally, the new bridge on state route 81 opened in December.

Other projects, such as intersections, generally fall below the $10 million dollars threshold. A roundabout project at state route 81 and Snapping Shoals Road starts construction before year-end.
