
The Henry County school board, Stockbridge council and Hampton council have meetings this week. Plus, Locust Grove has a town hall meeting. Here is a look at upcoming meetings in Henry County for the week of June 9, 2025.
Meetings the Week of June 9, 2025
Henry County Schools
The Henry County Board of Education will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, June 9. They hold a study session at 4 pm then the regular meeting at 7 pm. The school board meets at the school district’s main office in downtown McDonough.
Some excerpts from the board’s agenda include the following items:
- update district policy to comply with new Georgia law limiting the use of cell phones for students in K-8,
- approve various contract renewals for district goods and services for the 2025-2026 school year following last month’s budget adoption, and
- award a construction contract for Wolf Creek Elementary School in Locust Grove.

Stockbridge Council
Next, the Stockbridge council meets on Monday, June 9, at 6 pm. The city council meets at Stockbridge City Hall on North Henry Blvd.
Some excerpts from the council’s agenda include the following items:
- [Public Hearing] comprehensive plan amendment and special use permit for 4.2 acres on Rock Quarry Road at Hospital Drive. The applicant is proposing a new convenince store.
- [Public Hearing] annexation request, comp plan amendment and rezoning request for 2251 Highway 42 North. The applicant intends to use the existing building as a private school.
Several zoning items were deferred. They include an annexation request, a comp plan amendment and rezoning request for 22 acres at 1448 and 1468 Flippen Road. Deferred items also include a comp plan amendment and rezoning request for 9.9 acres on North Henry Blvd south of Valley Hill Road.

Hampton Council
The Hampton council meets on Tuesday, June 10. Public hearing items will begin at 6 pm. The regular meeting follows at 6:30 pm. The council holds one meeting monthly at Hampton City Hall.
There are two public hearing items. They are 1) to transmit the annual capital improvement element update, and 2) consider a request for a conditional use permit for congregate housing at 280 Kyndal Drive.
Some excerpts from the regular meeting agenda are as follows:
- apply for federal grant funding for the design and construction of East King Street re-alignment project, and
- approve an updated intergovernmental agreement between the Henry County Board of Elections and the city to administer municipal elections. Note: Every city in Henry County has considered this item.

McDonough Planning Commission
The McDonough Planning Commission also meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month. Their meeting begins at 6 pm at McDonough City Hall.
The planning commission has one agenda item. McDonough Community Chiropractic has applied to rezone 0.30 acres at 310 Griffin Street from light industrial to neighborhood commercial. The city council would tentatively consider this request in July.
Locust Grove Town Hall
Lastly, the city of Locust Grove is hosting a town hall meeting on Tuesday, June 10, at 6:30 pm. It will be at the city’s public safety building on Highway 42. The discussion will be about general city updates.
