The Henry County Board of Education, Stockbridge council and Hampton council have meetings this week. The McDonough and Stockbridge planning commissions will also meet. This is a look at meetings during the week of May 12, 2025.

Meetings the Week of May 12, 2025

Henry County Board of Education

The Henry County Board of Education will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, May 12. They have a study session at 4 pm then a regular session at 7 pm. In addition, the second of two budget public hearings will be at 6:30 pm. The board meets at the school district office in downtown McDonough.

The school board’s agenda includes final adoption of the FY 2026 budget. They will also consider a furniture purchase for JB Henderson School and continued investment in mobile weapons detection systems.

Stockbridge Council

Next, the Stockbridge council will meet on Monday, May 12, at 6 pm. The Stockbridge council meets at Stockbridge City Hall on North Henry Blvd.

The council’s agenda includes a public hearing and vote on a proposed townhome development. The project is located on 10 acres on North Henry Blvd between Old Atlanta and Valley Hill Roads. If approved, then the applicant plans to build 98 units.

The city council will also consider a renewed IGA for Henry County to conduct the city’s elections. This is already the standard operating practice. View the Stockbridge agenda here.

Hampton Council

Moving to Tuesday, May 13, the Hampton council will hold its monthly meeting. They have a public hearing session at 6 pm then the regular meeting is at 6:30 pm. The city council meets at Hampton City Hall.

Public hearing items this month are for the city to adopt an updated revised zoning map. This action would not change any property’s current zoning. Instead, the map update covers what’s already been approved in the last few years.

The city’s regular meeting agenda includes consideration to award several contracts. Those contracts include road resurfacing, a new roundabout at McDonough Street and Hampton-Locust Grove Road, and East Hampton Community Park – Phase III improvements.

Hampton meeting agendas are on the city website.

McDonough Planning Commission

Also on Tuesday night, May 13, the McDonough Planning Commission (MPC) will hold its May meeting. The MPC meets on the second Tuesday each month at 6 pm, when they have agenda items. They meet at McDonough City Hall.

The MPC agenda covers two previously-advertised items. Both originated last year. Those items are the following:

  • a rezoning request to build rental townhomes on Racetrack Road, and
  • an annexation request for a new subdivision on McGarity Road.

The city council will tentatively consider both items at their May 19 meeting.

Stockbridge Planning Commission

Finally, the Stockbridge Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 pm. They meet at Stockbridge City Hall.

The planning commission’s agenda items include the following:

  • special use permit request for a new convenience store and gas station on Rock Quarry Road at Hospital Drive,
  • annexation request at 2251 Highway 42 North to use the existing structure for a private school,
