Henry County residents can now visit the county’s newest recreation center at North Mt. Carmel Park. The county held a ribbon cutting for the new venue on Monday, April 21, 2025. The project is the county’s 4th recreation center.

New North Mt Carmel Recreation Center

The new North Mt Carmel Recreation Center is located at 307 North Mt Carmel Road, Hampton. This is near Jonesboro Road in the Dutchtown community. Residents will be most familiar with North Mt Carmel Park as home to the county’s soccer association. There’s also a popular dog park and children’s playground.

The recreation center offers two full-size basketball courts, concession stand, meeting rooms, fitness area and walking track. The 36,706 square foot venue had a construction cost of $15.5 million dollars. The total project budget was $16.8 million. Henry County SPLOST V funds paid for its construction.

Operating hours are Monday through Thursday 8 am to 9 pm, Friday 8 am to 7 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. The center is closed on Sunday.

In April, the Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a bid for a new playground at the park. This will replace the existing playground. In addition, the new playground will be located adjacent to the recreation center. The new playground cost totals $586,935.85.
