Meetings the Week of April 21, 2025
North Mt. Carmel Ribbon Cutting & Town Hall
First, Henry County will hold a ribbon cutting at the new North Mt. Carmel Recreation Center. The new venue is located at North Mt. Carmel Park in Hampton. The ribbon cutting will be on Monday, April 21, at 1 pm.
Later on Monday, Commissioners Neat Robinson and Kevin Lewis will host a joint town hall. That meeting is also at the new recreation center. The town hall meeting is on Monday, April 21, at 6:30 pm. The topic will be a legislative update following the recent state assembly session.
Locust Grove Council
Next, the Locust Grove council meets on Monday, April 21, at 6 pm. They meet at the city public safety building. This is their workshop meeting when city staff share monthly department reports and the city conducts public hearings. The council votes on items at their regular meeting held the first Monday of the month.
Agenda items include two public hearings. Those hearings are as follows:
- update city ordinances to close city parks at 10 pm nightly, instead of the current midnight, and
- a request for a conditional use permit for a tattoo studio located at 3978 Highway 42 South. This is the commercial strip building between downtown Locust Grove and the Post Office.
The council will also consider various special event permits. Several of the proposed special events are city-sponsored events.
McDonough Council
The McDonough council likewise meets on Monday, April 21, at 6 pm. They meet at McDonough City Hall. The council will consider a presentation about the city’s updated brand, and consider accepting a land donation from Symphony Park. The new development, behind Publix at Lake Dow, reserved land in their rezoning request for a future city fire station.
