Henry County has a major roads resurfacing project slated for 2025. The county is accepting bids to resurface four major roads or 21 miles this year. The project will be paid for through SPLOST VI.

Henry County Major Roads Resurfacing 2025

The county major roads resurfacing project includes the following roads:

  1. Flippen Road, 5.1 miles, from North Henry Blvd to end,
  2. Eagles Landing Parkway, 5.1 miles, to include sections of Hudson Bridge Road and East Lake Parkway between Jodeco Road and Springdale Road,
  3. Kelleytown Road, 5.5 miles, from State Route 155 to State Route 20, and
  4. Keys Ferry Road, 4.8 miles, from SR 81 to the Butts County line.

The numbers correspond with the above project map.

The project will complete full depth reclamation on Flippen, Kelleytown and Keys Ferry Road. This process, often abbreviated as FDR, will remove the existing soil underneath the roadway and add a gravel base. It is often the case that old country roads don’t have a proper base underneath them. The FDR process is more expensive, but it significantly improves the quality and lifespan of the road’s asphalt when complete.

The Eagles Landing Parkway project will be milling and replacing the top asphalt material only. This corridor is all four or six lanes wide. It has a gravel base underneath the top layer.

The county is accepting bids through Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The board could consider approving a contract as early as May. Afterward, the contractor will have six months or 180 days to complete the work. The resurfacing, weather permitting, should be complete by the end of 2025.

Project Funding

Henry County voters approved the SPLOST VI referendum in November 2024. The program set aside nearly $63 million in county funds for road resurfacing. In addition, Henry County and Stockbridge had several joint resurfacing projects. Flippen Road and the Eagles Landing Parkway corridor were among those. The city’s contribution for these two roads is an estimated $10 million.

I want to ensure readers don’t receive the impression that the above four roads are going to cost the full $63 million. These roads are a starting point; other resurfacing projects will follow.
