Henry County Schools has awarded a construction bid for the upcoming Wolf Creek Elementary School. It will be in Locust Grove. The new school will open in August 2027.
Wolf Creek Elementary School Construction
Henry County Schools accepted construction bids for the new elementary school in May 2025. They received six bids. MEJA Construction of Peachtree City, GA submitted the lowest bid. Their bid amount was $30,870,000. Construction is paid for by education SPLOST 6.
The school board approved the construction bid at their June 2025 meeting. Construction will begin this fall. It will be complete in spring 2027. Students will start attending the new school in August 2027.
MEJA Construction has constructed numerous projects for Henry County such as the district’s newest school, Birch Creek Elementary. They are also the general contractor for the under construction STEM high school. The STEM high school will open in August 2027 alongside Wolf Creek.
Wolf Creek Elementary School will be located on South Unity Grove Road. The school district has owned about 39 acres there since 2007. The location is south of Peeksville Road.
Wolf Creek Elementary School will be part of the Locust Grove cluster. Though the school’s attendance zone is not yet finalized, it will pull students from Locust Grove and Unity Grove Elementary Schools. The school district will approve an attendance zone closer to the school’s opening. This action will likely occur around fall or winter 2026.
E-SPLOST 6 Projects
Voters approved education SPLOST 6 in spring 2021. The program included nine classroom capacity projects. Wolf Creek Elementary School is the seventh project to begin construction.
Projects presently under construction include the following:
- STEM high school in Stockbridge,
- Ola Middle School classroom addition, and
- Dutchtown Middle School classroom addition.
Construction is beginning this summer on the Ola High School addition.
Previously completed projects were the Dutchtown High School addition and Birch Creek Elementary School. Remaining projects are classroom additions at Locust Grove High School and Union Grove Middle School. Altogether, the nine projects will build classroom space for an additional 5,000 students.
