The Hampton council has approved construction for the East Hampton Community Park Phase III. The five-acre park is located on East King Road. It is behind the Bear Creek Senior Center.
East Hampton Community Park Phase III
The city of Hampton first began work on East Hampton Community Park in 2020. Phase 1 opened in 2021. The second phase in 2023 added a playground, pavilion, restrooms and parking lot. Now, phase 3 will finish the city’s concept plan. The work includes an extension to the walking trail and additional open lawn area.
In addition, the park will have a memorial to the victims of the July 2023 shooting in Hampton. On July 15, 2023, four Hampton residents lost their lives. “The memorials will include trees selected by family members of the victims. The designs will also feature bench installations, and reflection areas throughout the park,” according to a 2024 article by Atlanta News First.

The city accepted construction bids in April 2025 for phase III. Hampton received three bids; one of which was incomplete. Lagniappe Development Co., Inc. of Buford, GA was the lowest of the remaining bids. Their cost was $312,674.59. The city council approved this item on May 13, 2025. The contractor must have all work complete by June 30, 2025, in time for a July memorial ceremony.
SPLOST V funds will contribute for phase III. The city has previously utilized park impact fees, paid by new development, and a federal grant for phases I and II.
