Henry County is now accepting construction bids to build the Locust Grove tag office. It will be located on Tanger Blvd. The project is being paid for by SPLOST VI collections.
Locust Grove Tag Office Construction
Henry County released the request for proposals (RFP) on April 24. Contractors’ proposals are due by Thursday, May 22. Afterward, county staff will review the proposals received. The board of commissioners typically consider awarding a contract about two to three months later.
The new tag office will be located at 619 Tanger Drive. This is immediately south of the Department of Driver Services office. The building will be a 8,624 square foot single-story building.
The new building will be for residents to pay their taxes and / or motor vehicle registrations. There’s also a drive-thru lane. The Locust Grove tag office will join existing tag offices in McDonough and Stockbridge.
Because the project bid is a request for proposals (RFP), the selected contractor will provide the county with an estimated construction time.
The Henry County SPLOST VI program started collections on April 1, 2025. It will continue for six years or until March 2031. The program will pay for county capital projects and road projects. The county budgeted $5.4 million for the Locust Grove tag office. The project list calls for a cost-share from Locust Grove as well; however, that amount has not been shared.
