
The Henry County school board, Locust Grove council, Stockbridge council and Henry County commissioners all have meetings this week. Here’s your look at meetings during the week of April 14, 2025.
Meetings the Week of April 14, 2025
Henry County Schools
The Henry County school board holds their monthly meeting on the second Monday. They meet at the school district office in downtown McDonough. Their meeting will be on Monday, April 14, this month. The school board holds a study session at 4 pm and the regular business session at 7 pm. In addition, there’s the first of two budget hearings at 6:30 pm. The second and final budget hearing will be in May.
Agenda items include a FY 2026 tentative budget overview, consider awarding the construction bid for the Ola High School classroom addition, and adopting the 2025-26 code of conduct. The board discusses each item during the 4 o’clock meeting then votes on them at 7 pm.
Locust Grove Council
Next, the Locust Grove council meets on Monday, April 14, at 6 pm. They meet at the city public safety building. The council will consider approving architectural renderings for LongHorn Steakhouse and Dutch Bros Coffee. They will also consider approving the creation of a youth council.
Stockbridge Council
Lastly, on Monday night, the Stockbridge council will hold its meeting. Their meeting starts at 6 pm at Stockbridge City Hall.
The council will consider approving a city-initiated rezoning request for 15.4 acres at 4482 North Henry Blvd. This is a city-owned property between North Lee Street and Mann Blvd. The city is looking to rezone the property for a residential development. The proposed project has 67 total units: 42 townhomes and 25 single-family detached homes. The city would select a developer for the project pending the zoning change.
Other agenda items include approving a new maintenance shop and vehicles for public works, and various de-annexation applications for the Manderley subdivision. View the full agenda on the Stockbridge agenda website.
Henry County Board of Commissioners
Next, the Henry County Board of Commissioners have a meeting on Tuesday, April 15. The board meets at the county admin building in McDonough.
First, the county commissioners will hold a called budget workshop at 4 pm. Staff will share an update on the county’s upcoming FY 2026 budget. The board’s budget public hearings will be in May.
Then, the board’s regular meeting is at 6:30 pm. Public hearing items include the following:
- consider Pulte Homes’ rezoning request from C-2 and OI to R-5 for 21.5 acres at the southwest corner of Jonesboro Road and Chambers Road. The developer is proposing a townhome development.
- consider adopting a 180-day moratorium on new residential rezoning requests in unincorporated Henry County. The board first adopted a moratorium at its meeting in March. This agenda item would extend it for six months.

Stockbridge Planning Commission
Lastly, the Stockbridge Planning Commission meets on Thursday, April 17, at 6:30 pm. They meet at Stockbridge City Hall.
The planning commission will consider one rezoning request. Templar Development Group, LLC is requesting to rezone ten acres for a townhome development. The property is located on North Henry Blvd south of Valley Hill Road. The applicant is proposing 98 units. They are also requesting to amend the city’s future land use map from “low-density mixed-use” to “high-density mixed-use.” The project has a proposed density of 9.9 units per acre.
The city planning commission is a recommending body on rezoning requests. The Stockbridge council will tentatively consider the request in May.
