Henry County voters approved SPLOST VI at the ballot box in November 2024. Sales tax collections for the program began on April 1, 2025. The local sales tax rate remains 8%.

Henry County SPLOST VI Collections Start

Henry County SPLOST VI is projected to collect $470 million over the next six years. That’s from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2031. The collections are then split between Henry County and the four cities. The county is slated to receive an estimated $319.6 million or 68% of collections.

Henry County must spend SPLOST collections on either capital projects or transportation improvements. This can include county buildings and vehicles, park updates and road projects. Some highlights from the county’s projects list include the following:

  • $22.5 million for a new animal shelter,
  • $16 million for fire rescue facilities & equipment,
  • $18.5 million to replace Hidden Valley Senior Center, and
  • $20.4 million for park improvements.

There is also $216.4 million in county funds for road improvements. This includes road widening projects, intersection improvements and road resurfacing. The full project list is in the PDF document below.

The board should consider hiring civil engineering firms for the above projects in the upcoming months.

Lastly, the county is accepting construction bids to resurface four major county roads. That project includes Eagles Landing Parkway, Flippen Road, Kelleytown Road and Keys Ferry Road. The county is accepting bids through April 16.
