The school board and board of commissioners have meetings this week. The Locust Grove Council, McDonough Planning Commission and Henry County Zoning Advisory Board are also meeting. Here’s your look at meetings happenings the week of March 10, 2025.

Meetings the Week of March 10, 2025

Henry County School Board

The Henry County Board of Education will host their monthly meeting on Monday, March 10. The study session is at 4 pm and the regular session is at 7 pm. Meetings are at the district office in downtown McDonough.

Presentations include Superintendent Pace sharing his 90-day entry plan update as well as the code of conduct annual review process. Agenda items include a bid award for roof replacement projects.

Locust Grove Council

Secondly, the Locust Grove Council meets on Monday, March 10, at 6 pm. They meet at the city’s public safety building. The council will consider adopting revisions to the city’s gravel truck parking lot ordinance.

Commissioner Lewis Town Hall

Thirdly, still on Monday night, Henry County District 5 Commissioner Kevin Lewis will hold a town hall meeting. The town hall begins at 6:30 pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 469 Mt. Olive Road, Stockbridge. Discussion topics include economic development & data centers, House Bill 581, Code Enforcement / community clean-up and Department of Transportation.

Board of Commissioners

Next, the Henry County Board of Commissioners meet on Tuesday, March 11, at 9 am. The board meets at the county admin building in McDonough. Agenda items include a contract award for airport runway pavement rehab at the Atlanta Speedway Airport in Hampton.

McDonough Planning Commission

The McDonough Planning Commission meets on Tuesday, March 11, at 6 pm. This is the city’s equivalent to the county zoning advisory board. The MPC meets at McDonough City Hall.

Agenda items include developers proposing a townhome project on Racetrack Road and residential subdivision on McGarity Road. Both requests will go before the city council at a later date for final decisions.

Henry County Zoning Advisory Board

Next, the Henry County Zoning Advisory Board meets on Thursday, March 13, at 6:30 pm. They meet at the county admin building.

Agenda items include various developers’ proposals for five new residential projects. They are located on Highway 81 West, near US 19 / 41, Mt Carmel Road at Jones Road, McDonough Parkway at State Route 20, North Ola Road at State Route 81, and New Hope Road near Peeksville Road. Supporting documents about each request are on the county website.

Stockbridge Town Hall

Lastly, the city of Stockbridge has a town hall meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 7 pm. It will be at the Merle Manders Conference Center, 111 Davis Road, Stockbridge. Discussion topics will be county & city homestead exemptions.
