Transportation Overview
Voters last approved the regular SPLOST program in fall 2019. Subsequently, voters passed the county’s first transportation SPLOST program in fall 2021. Together, the two sales tax programs provide almost all funding for county road projects. Each collects one cent on local purchases.
Since April 2021, Henry County has awarded contracts worth over $52 million dollars for road resurfacing. This paid for about 120 miles of work.
There are also various road projects under construction. Examples include Peeksville Road paving and the new Racetrack at Iris Lake roundabout. In addition, the county approved two contracts this month. They will pave Selfridge Road and build a roundabout at Bridges and Willow Lane. Other projects, like the Flippen Road extension, should accept construction bids later this year.
