As of 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 25, the Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting twenty confirmed cases of COVID-19 from Henry County residents. The state updates its status report twice daily at noon and 7 pm.
Statewide, the current total is 1,387 cases resulting in 438 hospitalized. The virus has taken the lives of 47 Georgians to date.
Yesterday, March 24, it was incorrectly reported by Georgia DPH District 4 that there were 45 cases in Henry County. The misinformation affected several counties and DPH has since apologized for their error.
The Georgia Department of Public Health would like to remind residents that the numbers themselves are not as important as the community precautions that are being taken to limit the spread of Coronavirus. Residents are encouraged to stay home whenever possible, limit their trips, and maintain six feet of physical distancing between individuals.
On Tuesday, March 24, the Stockbridge city council passed a resolution to close all non-essential businesses within the city. Later that day, the Henry County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution that requires businesses to limit the number of occupants within their establishment and maintain physical distancing if open.
The Locust Grove city council has a called special meeting on Thursday at 10 am to consider emergency action. The meeting will be conducted via teleconference and live streamed via the city’s Facebook page.
