The Henry County Board of Commissioners has called a special meeting for Tuesday, March 24, at 12 pm to consider emergency protective orders related to the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The county encourages citizens to view the meeting from home, either online via the county website or on Spectrum Channel 180.
Likewise, the city of Stockbridge has a called council meeting on Tuesday morning at 9 am to consider local restrictions on public gatherings.
The city of McDonough met on Friday, March 20, to approve an emergency and disaster management ordinance. The mayor signed a declaration of local emergency later that day prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 individuals within the city.

RE: Where is OUR Leadership during this Pandemic?
Dear Henry County Neighbors:
As a business owner of a local lounge, I made an EASY business decision to temporary shut down my lounge to do my part to ensure the safety of my employees, my customers and anyone in our county. The COVID-19 Pandemic should be taken seriously.
The question I have for you today is what are our leaders doing about this? This virus will continue to spread if we don’t act. Henry County needs to ACT NOW by shutting down bars, gyms, nightclubs and non-essential businesses. All gatherings should be limited to no more than 10 people, restaurants should be take out only. It is time to let our leadership know the time is NOW! Every day that we don’t shut down the nonessential businesses is a day that we are risking the lives of our citizens.
We must ACT for the health, safety and welfare of ALL.
