The Locust Grove city council voted to annex 48.38 +/- acres at their February 24, 2020 meeting. The properties are located at 342 Davis Lake Road (shaded in yellow on the map below).

Votes on annexation and rezoning passed 3-2. Council members Boone and Greer voted in opposition; council member Gardner recused himself.

The council also approved a rezoning of the properties from unincorporated RA (residential agricultural) to the city of Locust Grove’s RA zoning district. The properties must remain zoned RA for at least one year before a subsequent rezoning request, if any, can be submitted.

Many of the surrounding properties, shown in purple on the map, have been annexed into city limits since December 2018. The largest annexation—consisting of ninety-eight acres located north of Colvin Drive and west of Davis Lake Road—was included within the 75 South Logistics Center DRI review for future industrial development. The property is zoned R-3 (single-family residential) and a rezoning request must be submitted and approved before the property could be developed for industrial use.

In December 2019, the city council rezoned twenty-nine acres located off Jackson Street for the Gardner Commerce Center. The new 1.25 million square feet distribution center will be built on property west of this month’s annexation.
