Henry County has over $300 million dollars in state funding towards pre-construction projects. Our new schedule included below helps to visualize the different timelines for major transportation projects.

Starting with the installation of a diverging diamond interchange this summer in McDonough, at least one major project will be under construction at any given time for the next nine years.

Collectively, the projects represent a major investment into Henry County following the passage of the transportation funding act in 2015. House bill 170 raised the state’s motor fuel tax enabling Georgia DOT to advance many projects that were otherwise shelved.

Out of the $377.5 million dollars in road widening projects, approximately $297.5 million is funded by house bill 170. The primary exceptions are widening state route 81 and Rock Quarry Road. These projects are funded through federal transportation dollars and a twenty percent local match.
