The McDonough city council voted unanimously this past week to annex the former Ruby Tuesday restaurant along highway 20 into city limits for demolition and redevelopment. A proposal for an oil change station, to be located on the site of the current Waffle House, will be considered at a later date.

Once demolished, the Ruby Tuesday site will be rebuilt into a fast food building with drive-thru and multi-tenant commercial building. The developer, Matt Boone of ForCAST Real Estate Development, shared planned tenants include Dunkin Donuts, My Eyelab, and a not-yet-finalized fast casual restaurant.

The most debated component of the proposal, Valvoline Express Care, has not been decided. The applicant must submit a second application for annexation concerning the present-day Waffle House tract before the council may consider its approval. A decision about that parcel is expected in the upcoming months after the application for annexation is received and Henry County notified.
